O Christmas Tree

Tree, originally uploaded by homemadeoriginals.

Finally, on December 14 we got our tree decorated. We actually put about 1/2 as many ornaments on as usual, picking just the "favorites" including handmade ones by me and by my children at various ages, ones from our travels, and or gifted to us over the years. I think I've decided that starting next year I will give a few ornaments to my son and daughter each year. You can click on the tree below and see more detail including the Christmas tree skirt I appliqued probably more than 15 years ago. I love the skaters on the rink, but the other side has a horse drawn carriage.

I also have an obscene number of Christmas decorations besides tree ornaments ...a large collection of Santa's, snowmen, nutcrackers, etc. This year, with such a late start and because I'm in a mode of "simplifying my life" I don't plan to put it all out. I do plan on displaying the collection of Christmas houses that my daughter and I made over a period of years. Photos to follow hopefully by this weekend.

Today, I started knitting a new business card case in a beautiful blue/teal colorway so I have kept up my crafting for Day 47. I had to admit to myself that tree decorating is technically not crafting! The yarn for this project is Andes, from Chile which I love. I've made several other card cases using an orange/brown color combination and red/pink in the same brand. I've not much to show yet as I've only knitted about 10 rows. This is a custom order for a customer who purchased my Autumn glow card case a few days ago.

Speaking of which, I've had a big month so far on Etsy. I've sold 9 items there. My previous high month was 5 items. Of course, I expected to have a bit of a "holiday rush" which is probably coming to an end.

Wow! I love the tree! What made this tree more special are the creative minds and hands and willing hearts that helped make the decors.

Happy holidays! :-)

Beautiful tree. Can't wait to see the rest.
Thanks for the bread recipe. I'll try it out this weekend.

Your tree is lovely. We've got to go out and find a suitable one on our property tomorrow.
