Jingle All the Way
I've been jingling around the house all day in these...
We had a wonderful Christmas. The best present by far was learning that my son and his wife are expecting a baby. They sent me a baby knitting book and sent a card that instructed me to call them before opening it. Inside, was the ultrasound photo and a note about their wonderful news.
I've managed to do a little crafting between all the cooking, eating and merriment. I made another little business card case (still be to felted in the "retro" color scheme). I also started knitting the Aran Pocketbook from Bags, a Knitter's Dozen with the leftover Big Berella Bulky I got at the White Elephant. I wish they still made that yarn, I made three cabled neck warmers/scarflettes out of the yarn already and another bag. And I bought the bag of yarn for $3. Now, that's what I call getting your money's worth out of a purchase.
I did get some wonderful Absolute Wool (New Zealand) and Andes (Chile) , a Knit It! Felt It! book I'd never seen which is bound to inspire some new ideas and a wonderful necklace from my daughter and so much more. However, the news that I'm going to be a grandma for the first time definitely made them all pale by comparison.
I have been cooking like crazy, a wonderful ham dinner Monday night with Butterscotch Pear Crepes for dessert. The traditional Bacon and eggs casserole (with plenty of mushrooms) for breakfast and a new overnight coffee cake recipe. And this afternoon, my daughter and I made Baklava for her to take to her boyfriend's family. Unfortunately, I didn't get a photo of the Baklava, but I do have one of the crepes in process:
