Felting is My Bag

I improvised the design for this bag which I am calling the "Windowpane bag". It was knitted with mitered squares using Galway Paint yarn in colorway 814. (purple, blue, muted orange, and brown). I liked the bag so well when I finished knitting it, that I was reluctant to felt it (see photos above). However, I had planned for it to fit a net book size and I wanted it to be sturdier than a knitted bag, so I took the plunge tonight and felted it. It's still drying, but I love how it turned out. The colors are all muted, and you can't see the knitting ridges that were in the original knitted squares, but it's gorgeous.

The felted bag photo isn't nearly as clear, it was taken as the sun was getting pretty marginal so I'll try to post a finished photo later in the week.
I am getting ready for a "Bag show" as part of the First Friday Art Walk July 2 in Old Town, Pocatello. I've worked on several other smaller bags this week and finished the Felted backpack I started months and months ago in anticipation of that event. Here is the finished backpack:

love the colors on both. It would be great as a laptop bag, if it's the right size... hmmm....
