Stawberry Fields Forever

Strawberry Fields Forever

No one I think is in my tree, I mean it must be high or low.
That is you can't you know tune in but it's all right.
That is I think it's not too bad.

Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about.
Strawberry Fields forever.

Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.
It's getting hard to be someone but it all works out.
It doesn't matter much to me.

Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about.
Strawberry Fields forever.

Always know sometimes think it's me, but you know I know and it's a dream.
I think I know of thee, ah yes, but it's all wrong.
That is I think I disagree.

Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about.
Strawberry Fields forever.
Strawberry Fields forever.
Strawberry Fields forever.

I decided to participate in the Etsy FAST September Challenge. Etsy FAST is a group of Fiber Artists on Etsy.com Each month they choose a challenge topic and members create and post something for sale on Etsy that fits the challenge. This month's challenge was Songs. My new neck warmer, made from hand dyed alpaca, brought the Beatles song, Strawberry Fields, to mind.

There is much speculation about he meaning of this Beatles song, from it being about drugs, the horrors of the Vietnam war, or other aspects of John Lennon's personal life. Apparently there was an orphanage near Lennon's home that was named Strawberry Fields. John played with his friends and climbed trees there. Many people believe Strawberry Fields was the first place to inspire John to become passionate about music.

As I was writing this, I received an email from a friend who participated in the recent 60 mile Breast Cancer 3 Day in Seattle, WA with her daughter. Some of the photos show a sea of pink, strawberry fields of women brought together by the cause of finding a cure for breast cancer.

The sign says "We walk because we must. We are strong because the journey demands it...." These women challenged themselves in a way I cannot imagine going 60 miles in 3 days. It makes my Strawberry Fields challenge on Etsy pale by comparison and I salute them all!

John's writing in circles has always been a mystery. I guess everyone have their own personal experiences and take things in different ways. Like these women walking! {:-D
