Hibernating and creating

Wristlet collection, originally uploaded by homemadeoriginals.

Today was a productive day. Yesterday, I decided I wanted to make a couple of wristlets using felted sweater pieces. With each one I made, I came up with some change in technique that made the process easier and/or better so by the last one (on top) I think I have it figured out. I'm sure I will probably make a few more, though the challenge of the task has certainly diminished.

Tomorrow, I may try to make one using my patchwork technique. I bought two beautiful brown sweaters at the Goodwill on Friday and felted them today. One shrunk so much I couldn't believe how small it got...it's true I let the washer run all the way through the cycle which I typically don't do when felting.

After some spring-like weather we had about 4-6" inches of snow this afternoon. Here's a photo of one of the trees in the front yard. I can really relate to the animals that hibernate because when the weather is like this, I tend to do exactly that. I only went outside today to take a couple of photos and deliver a loaf of home made bread to my neighbor.

In between wristlets, I managed to find this in the basement storage room. I told my son I'd send photos of this so he and his wife could decide if they want the family bassinet for their first child, who is expected in August. I found this photo of my Dad, taken in 1917 or 1918 in the aforementioned family heirloom.

Oh my goodness, that bassinet is georgous! I love that you posted the old photo of it. I would kill to have had something like that passed down to me. I bought my sister a moses basket 8 years ago and she just recently passed it back to me for my now 8 month old so I guess somewhere down the road, my great grandchildren or whoever will have it for their babies! Thanks for sharing.
